Happy Birthday and stuff

The last couple of weeks have been fun. It was fun to get the kids involved with Emily's birthday. Josh was very excited to make her a cake. I'm proud to say we didn't even burn it! The kids got to go bond with Grandma while Emily and I went to dinner. Emily had lost her voice and been sick all week so we were excited she was feeling a little better for her birthday. It's always nice to have a grown-up night once in a while.

Then last Thursday Emily called me at work to let me know the downpour in West Jordan was flooding the basement, so I got to race home to move stuff out of the way. (It's nice to work 5 minutes from home.) Not too much water got in, so it wasn't too bad. Emily got drenched bailing water out of the window well. And the kids loved watching the rain gutter fountain. (Our gutter runs under the yard then comes up at the end of the driveway.) For a while it was shooting a foot or so in the air.

The 4th was nice and relaxed. We took the kids swimming at the Lehi pool and had to drag them out after a few hours. Came back and shot a few parachutes off at the school. Later that night the three of us (minus Melia who was asleep) watched the fireworks across the valley out the front window. We could see fireworks from downtown to Thanksgiving Point. Not too bad of a show!
